Graeme Park and friends Music conference takes over Marine Hall this July!

This not to be missed first time event at Marine Hall will take place on Saturday 21 July between 2pm-10pm for over 18s only.

‘Music conference with Graeme Park & Friends’ is a new and exciting project working in partnership with Wyre Theatres and showcases talented local artists and DJs, including the versatile Luke Neptune (solo electronic set), Adam Harris (Small Town Sessions), Gaz Peck (Follow events), Aaron Morris (Blueprint) and also presenting Ryan Booth. It also features Manchester’s Saxophonist Al Grant and your host for the day and night is the BBC’s Chelsea Norris.

Founder and resident DJ Jon Stewart has worked alongside some of the world’s biggest DJs & artists such as Eddie Halliwell, Laid Back Luke, Annie Mac, Nero and many more.  Having played in some of the swankiest night spots in the world, Jon is now working to bring the biggest names in dance music to Fleetwood.

House legend and former Haçienda resident DJ Graeme Park is the first to grace the decks at the historic Marine Hall.

The story of DJ Graeme Park really mirrors the story of the evolution of dance music and club culture itself. Graeme found himself working in a Nottingham record shop called Selectadisc in the early 1980s, when the very first house records began to filter through from Chicago, Detroit and New York. When the shop’s owner opened a nightclub, it was only natural he should turn to Graeme to select the discs. Determined to showcase this new style of music, his reputation as a house pioneer soon brought him to the attention of Mike Pickering at the Haçienda in Manchester, who asked him to cover for him while he went on holiday in 1988. Simply put, there was no-one else in the country who could do the job. The Summer of Love followed, and Parky quickly became one of the biggest names on the emerging dance scene. Aside from his nine year residency at The Haçienda, he was one of the first British DJs to play places like Australia, South America, the USA, Asia and beyond as well as producing and remixing tracks for the dancefloor, including The Brand New Heavies, Inner City, Eric B & Rakim, New Order, Sophie Ellis Bexter and more.

Founder and resident DJ Jon Stewart comments ‘I’m wanting to bring something new to Fleetwood town, it’s been crying out for this sort of thing for a while now, I’m of the opinion as a DJ, you must always play what you love and ignore what’s ‘trendy’ because true passion always eclipses what’s fashionable. Whether it be Electronic, Soul, funk House, trance or HipHop. Quality is always fashionable’.

Luke Neptune is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist specialising in House, Disco and Funk. Luke Neptune comments ‘I come from a musical family, so a guitar was put in my hands by my dad at a very early age. For my 14th birthday I got decks and a mixer – thus began my love affair with electronic music. At about 16 years old I started to make my own recordings using tape decks and a cheap synthesizer and it’s this side of things that evolved into what I do now in my studio on a day to day basis’.

DJ Gaz Peck has DJ’d from an early age after finding a love for Italian piano/synth tunes, trance classics, house music and old school, early influences were the local DJ’s of Fever Crew and Zone, seeing the buzz the crowd got whilst watching and listening to them aspired him to become a DJ.

Al Grant (saxophonist) comments ‘Working in clubs since the mid-nineties, developed my roots in funk and soul to compliment the dance music I love’. He has played alongside DJs including Farley Jackmaster Funk, Freemasons, Graeme Park, David Dunne (Hed Kandi, Triple Dee), Andy Norman (Hed Kandi), Mark Doyle (Fierce Angel),  E-Squire, Tony Walker, Allister Whitehead, K-Klass and Curtis Gabriel. His aim is always to enhance the clubbing experience.

DJ Aaron Morris has been DJ’ing for over 15 years with his love for dance music starting in the late 90’s listening to old school piano house and then the emergence of the hard house, trance & progressive scene. Only ever treating his love for DJ’ing as a hobby Aaron has been lucky to DJ alongside the likes of Eddie Halliwell, Jordan Suckley, Bryan Kearney, Mark Sherry, Signum, Will Atkinson and Judge Jules to name a few. Aaron was also one of the co-founders of Blueprint, a Trance and Progressive club night that continues to promote the underground music scene in the North West of England.
