Blackpool’s biggest free event will once again dazzle both visitors and locals alike with lights and sounds during this year’s Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On.

This year’s Switch-On event takes place on Friday 31 August on the Tower Festival Headland in association with MTV and the night will begin with “Blackpool Introduces” showcasing four fantastic acts including local band, The Sound, Tiger S, the soulful singer-songwriter Kyle Passmore and X-Factor contestant Chloe Rose Moyle.

The Sound, a band from Up-Beat Rock Academy, will be playing a wide variety of covers from the 60s through to the present day. The musicians, aged between 14-17 years old, will be handpicking ‘big hits’ from over the decades to perfect their party band style.

Tiger S have recently returned from America to perform at Switch-On after putting the finishing touches on their debut album with their tracks ‘Tell Your Girlfriend’, ‘Don’t Wanna Grow Up’ and ‘Get The Girl’.

The band are known for their great harmonies and tight dance routines, which secured them a spot in supporting Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff. Their infectious pop sound promises to capture the audience in a heartbeat.

Kyle Passmore is a local talent from Blackpool and former BBC ‘Let it Shine’ contestant with Gary Barlow. He has recently visited the US to work on tracks for his upcoming album and has been featured as Record of the Week on BBC Radio Lancashire with his track ‘Four Walls’.

The singer describes his sound as ‘soulful, gritty pop’ and takes his inspiration from the likes of Amy Winehouse, Freddie Mercury and Daniel Merriweather.

Local singer/songwriter, Chloe Rose Moyle, who won praise from X-Factor judges last year for her compositions, will be gracing the Switch-On stage this year showcasing her singing talents. With a mix of covers and own songs, teenager Chloe will be performing in front of her home crowd and continues to pursue a career in music.

Cllr Gillian Campbell, Deputy Leader of Blackpool Council said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming our local artists to Switch-On this year.

“The Switch-On is a great opportunity to showcase their talents on what is the biggest night in Blackpool’s events calendar.”
