An exciting new choral group is about to take off in Warton and residents of the Fylde are invited to be part of its launch.

WARTON SHOW CHORUS is an exciting new venture set up to provide an opportunity for members of the local community and surrounding Fylde areas to join together singing “Songs from Stage and Screen”. The group is supported by Warton Parish Council, Warton Village Hall Trustees and St. Paul’s Parish Church and a steering group have been working flat out to ensure that everything is organised and prepared for the launch in September.

Music that will be rehearsed and performed will be from musicals and other stage works, films, and popular songs – and this is a great chance sing your heart out, make new friends and, most of all, have fun! You’ll also learn how to improve your voice using techniques to enhance breathing, tone, diction and projection plus its now scientifically proven that singing is good for health and well-being!

The chorus will be directed by well-known Fylde musician Stewart Hankinson. Stewart was born and raised in Lytham and is an experienced professional singer, conductor, accompanist, and organist with forty years’ experience of working with singers and choirs. He also directs Bolton Chamber Choir, The Richard Hart Singers and Thornton-Cleveleys Operatic Society. Stewart has taught in many schools and colleges, latterly as Head of Performing Arts, and has just completed a master’s degree in music performance and teaching at the University of Liverpool.

Warton Show chorus is a community group and there is no audition. The focus will be on enjoyment through good-quality singing and anyone is welcome to join, with or without previous experience. If you’ve never been in a group like this before don’t be apprehensive as you’ll get all the help you need! Weekly rehearsals will commence on FRIDAY, 6th SEPTEMBER 2019, from 7.30pm – 9.30pm, in THE VILLAGE HALL, WARTON, and further details are available by email: [email protected] or by text to Sue on 07845 172945 or phone Stewart on 07720 890076.
