Try something new in Wyre this half term

With spring fast approaching, Wyre Council has put together a host of family friendly activities to keep everyone entertained this half term.

Take part in Xplorer Orienteering at Memorial Park, Fleetwood on Saturday 16 February from 1pm to 3pm.
Xplorer is a family friendly navigation challenge using a simple map. The aim is to find a number of markers that are located around the park. At each marker children need to identify what is pictured and enjoy learning a fun fact, it’s just 50p per child to take part.

Or why not try your hand at some practical coastal conservation and enjoy a brew afterwards at Rossall Point Tower’s Conservation Day on Sunday 17 February at 11am to 2pm.

There’s birdwatching for kids at Wyre Estuary Country Park in Stanah on Wednesday 20 February from 10.30am – 12pm. Join the rangers to see and hear what birds we can find around the park. It’s £2.50 per child, bring along your binoculars if you have some!

If you fancy something a bit more arty there’s a ranger craft workshop on Wednesday 20 February at Wyre Estuary Country Park from 1pm to 3pm. Come along for some fun arts and craft activities using materials found in nature. The workshop is £3.50 per child. There’s also a crafty afty taking place at Memorial Park in Fleetwood on Saturday 23 February from 11am to 3pm. It’s £3 per child and this event needs to be booked – call 01253 891000 to secure your place.

Or, put on your wellies and join us for our beach cleans. The beach cleans give the local community chance to help tackle a global problem and are suitable for the whole family to get involved in. On Saturday 16 February there are beach cleans at Fleetwood Ferry Beach from 10.30am to 12pm and Marine Beach from 1pm to 2.30pm. There’s also a beach clean at Rossall Point Tower on Thursday 21 February, 10.30am to 12pm and Larkholme Grasslands on Sunday 24 February, 10.30am – 11.30am.
