Hospice to be boosted by three new shops

The Fylde coast will be home to three new charity shops this month supporting hospice care in Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre.

Trinity Hospice opened its latest shop last Wednesday on Clifton Street, Lytham, supporting its dedicated children’s hospice, Brian House, and raised more than £900 on its first day.

It will be followed on Monday by shops on Whitegate Drive, Blackpool, and Wyre View, Knott End, which will open for the first time at 10am, supporting the hospice’s adult services.

Together, the three new additions take Trinity’s total shops to 22 across the Fylde coast.

Retail manager Paul Guest said: “Our communities are so supportive of our work here on the Fylde coast, and our retail service has become renowned for its high quality of donated goods.

“We are so pleased to be able to open these new shops in areas where we know the public will be keen to look inside and grab a bargain, or donate their own goods so that we can continue to raise vital funds for hospice care where they live.

“Our teams are working incredibly hard to get these stores ready and open in time for the new season, as people are getting ready to change their wardrobes and spruce up after a spring clean. We can’t wait to welcome them into our new stores.”

Trinity’s shops raise vital funds for the hospice, which provides exceptional specialist hospice care to all who need it on the Fylde coast wherever they are; in the hospice, in hospital or a residential care home, or in the comfort of their own homes.

Paul added: “It costs more than £9 million each year to provide Trinity’s care, and after support from the government, we must still raise £5 million to keep the hospice doors open and its care free of charge to families who need it.

“Every single person who visits our shops – whether they are buying something or donating – makes such a difference. We simply wouldn’t be here without them.”

The new shops are recruiting for new volunteers to help stock shelves, manage tills and sort donations. Anyone who can spare a little team each week is encouraged to apply as a Retail Volunteer at www.trinityhospice.co.uk/volunteer-for-us.
