Runners take their marks for 10k fun run for charity

The Beaverbrooks Blackpool 10k Fun Run is back.

The run, which takes place along Blackpool’s promenade in aid of Trinity Hospice, was postponed during the pandemic last year. Although it usually takes place in May, this year’s event is all set to go on Sunday 26th September.

Already, hundreds of people are signed up to take their marks at the start line outside the Savoy Hotel and run past the Pleasure Beach and back again on the Golden Mile, which will be closed to traffic.

And anyone who wants to join them must hurry, as entry closes at noon on Tuesday 21st September.

Trinity’s Events Manager, Kirsty Miller, said: “The Beaverbrooks Blackpool 10k Fun Run is one of our most popular events, as runners of all abilities and wheelchair racers enjoy this flat route while being cheered on by spectators along the way.

“We were disappointment to have to cancel last year’s live event, and are so grateful to all those people who decided to make their race virtual instead.

“But we’re so pleased we’ve been able to put our fun run back on this year, even if it is at a much later date than usual. We’re so pleased so many people have already signed up to this event, and we want to make sure that no-one misses out.”

Runners are encouraged to get sponsorship for taking part in the fun run, which goes to the Bispham-based hospice.

Kirsty added: “Every penny raised in sponsorship by people taking part in the Beaverbrooks Blackpool 10k Fun Run goes straight to helping us to provide outstanding palliative and end-of-life care to everyone who need it on the Fylde coast.

“We really wouldn’t be here, supporting our community, without the generosity of people who take part in our events.”
